Three friends start the day on a fishing trip, before they can make it to their destination they are split apart. When split the characters come face to face with the brutality of a pandemic sweeping small town Texas. Quickly they realize the seriousness of their predicament, and before they can escape one of their own dies. Now they must make it out of this town alive. They come across other survivors struggling to understand what is happening and why. A series of events occur and our main character decides to leave his friend with the survivors. Out in the wilderness by himself trying to find gas for their truck he becomes hunted by a different infected humans. We see the characters change under the stress to survive. Some show great kindness in the face of adversity and others show cowardice and fear and discontent for humanity. None can escape the death around them. There is no sign of law or order, all civil structures have fallen apart. People of the church are few, but remain convinced that the pandemic is the reckoning of God. Many are forced to kill those they know, or those they love. Sequentially many have become warped and mentally unstable. Upon our protagonists return he finds that in the short time he has gone atrocities have occurred. Now with his world left upside down he will do all he now knows how to do. He will survive. In the end a retribution will be paid.
